100K! We did it. Another stretch goal unlocked.
over 1 year ago – Mon, Nov 04, 2024 at 11:30:49 AM

Hey there,

I'm thrilled to announce that we hit the 100k stretch goal in what has been our most successful campaign to date. Look, Simon rewarded us all with one of his lovely unlocked padlock graphics!

We couldn't keep producing these strange little games without the help of an amazing community and to everyone who has helped us get here, both long-time supporters and new ones, thank you.

Both physical and PDF backers will see a set of 36 artefacts in the back of the book! For digital backers, this will be a printable page with full colour artefact artwork. For physical backers this will be a perforated page with cut marks for creating your own set of artefacts.

Once again, thank you for getting us here. We are some way off our next stretch goal, and who knows if we will make that. Regardless, we are still over the moon.

If you haven't backed yet, now is a great time to get on board as we have unlocked loads of stretch goals, so everyone gets a little extra! If you aren't in a position to back yet, we understand and you can still help by telling a friend about the game.

Four days to go. Let's see where this journey takes us!

Tim (&, as always Simon).

All Night Breakfast at The Midnight Owl...
over 1 year ago – Mon, Nov 04, 2024 at 06:26:44 AM

Hey there,

Let me tell you a little bit about the free game that digital and physical backers will receive in PDF format.

All Night Breakfast at The Midnight Owl is a solo podcasting game.... woah... back up.

Okay, so the premise of the game is that you have come into some money (how is part of the game) and now you can tell your boss where to shove it and head off to the Pacific Northwest to start your own podcast investigating everything that's slightly off-tilt in the world.

We're talking cryptids, UFOs, government consipracies, forest cults and the rest. Think X-Files, Twin Peaks, True Detective etc.

The game uses a deck of cards and some dice to reveal locations and clues as you go off on the hunt for weird, wonderful and possibly dangerous things. Each night you will head out on your investigations, returning to the relative safety of a 24 hour cafe, The Midnight Owl, where you can collect your thoughts and create your podcast.

The game has two creative elements:

1. Journaling your investigations.
2. (optional) Create your podcast script and record it if you like!

I think this game is going to scratch that weird stuff itch you might have, but also encourage you to be creative in other areas. If you know my general undercurrent to games, you know that's a really important thing for me: games that push the players creatively.

I really can't wait to get Wires in the Woods and All Night Breakfast at The Midnight Owl into your hands and see what you do with them.

As always, please let me know in the comments if you have any questions!

Tim (& Simon, who is hearing many of these details for the first time in this update, though he is aware of the game!)

Stretch goal hit! Next stop cut out tokens in the book.
over 1 year ago – Sat, Nov 02, 2024 at 03:49:44 PM

Hey there,

Just dropping in with a quick thank you and congratulations on hitting the 95k stretch goal. We'll add a hessian bag to all Upcycling and Wanderlust pledge levels.

With six days to go, we have every chance of hitting the next stretch goal which will see the book have a perforated page with cutouts of the artefacts. This page will also appear in the PDF version of the book.

Once again, thank you for all the support for this game. We truly are blown away with how much love you have shown our project. Simon and I cannot wait to get it into your hands and see what amazing adventures and wonders of upcycling you can come up with.

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Tim (and Simon, of course!)

A free game for every digital and physical backer!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Nov 01, 2024 at 05:41:45 AM

Hey there,

As we draw into the final week of our Wires in The Woods campaign, I'm thrilled to announce that little something I usually have up my sleeve for these kind of things.

Every backer at digital or physical pledge levels will be receiving a PDF of my next planned zine. It will be out prior to Wires in The Woods (I may or may not do a little Zinequest campaign for it next Feb).

I suppose you want to know what it is....

Well, it will be a solo game. And I can reveal the title:

All Night Breakfast at The Midnight Owl.
If you like Twin Peaks, Night Vale, Buffy, True Detective, Only Murders in The Building, I reckon it's for you.

If you don't, well, that's fine. You still get the game.

No cover yet as it's still nothing more than a Google Doc, but you will receive the final version along with your Wires in The Woods PDFs early next year!

If you've already backed, thank you and congratulations on getting another game in the mix! If you're on the fence, I hope this helps with that.

And with that, I'm out of here.

Wishing you a great weekend!

Tim (& Simon who definitely loves all the things that the new game is about).

I told you so! (PLUS come join our Discord)

Hey there,

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was super busy.

On Saturday morning I filmed a little Halloween video, then in the afternoon we went to look for a venue for a new indie gaming convention we are hoping to kick off early next year in the southwest of England.

Sunday, I took a loooooong bus ride into London to meet with the organisers of MCM about another event that hopefully we can shout about soon. The best part was that Simon was there, so I got say hi and grab a photo to prove that we are both real people.

Apologies if that has killed the suspension of disbelief.

I'm also hopping into the update to invite you to our Discord server. We're a few hundred members strong and it's a very chill and welcoming place to come talk about TTRPGs. I'm usually hanging around so you can ask questions in one of the channels dedicated to each of my games.

Come on in, the water's fine: https://discord.gg/FQpK85zDVK

It's a great place to talk about the game, the rules and meet other people who are looking for groups to play in.

Hope you can join us!

Tim (& Simon who is likely resting after a very busy weekend).
